Using Phantom or Metamask to log in with Ethereum wallet

There are multiple ways to log into Supersafe, such as Email verification or a Solana wallet. We have now introduced the ability to log into the application using an Ethereum wallet, which can be done with both a Phantom and a Metamask wallet.

However, some preferences need to be taken into account when using either wallet, which we'll review here for our users' convenience:

Connecting a Metamask wallet

When a user clicks on the Ethereum icon and selects 'Metamask' as the wallet to connect, the wallet may fail to connect successfully, even if the wallet has been logged into and is ready to accept the connection. This is because certain wallets, such as Coinbase and, in this case, Metamask, require permission to be granted to connect the wallet being used to the specific website being navigated ahead of trying to log in. To achieve this, follow these easy steps:

  1. Open and log into Metamask.
  2. Select the appropriate account to connect.
  3. Click on the 'Connected' icon on the top right of the extension.

  4. Then, click 'Connect' and that's it! Now proceed to log in with Metamask and enjoy Supersafe!

Connecting using a Phantom Ethereum wallet

Connecting to Supersafe through Ethereum login using a Phantom wallet should be effortless, as anything Supersafe. However, there could be a conflict of interest if both Phantom and Metamask extensions are installed. What can happen is that selecting Phantom as a login wallet can cause Metamask's extension to open up instead. The way to go around this behavior is to do the following:

  1. Open the Phantom wallet extension and log in.
  2. Open the menu options on the top left of the extension.
  3. At the bottom, click the cogwheel icon for 'Settings.'

  4. Click on 'Preferences.'
  5. Select 'Default App Wallet.'
  6. The default setting is "Always Ask," but change it to "Phantom" instead.

  7. And that's it! Now, when selecting Phantom, only Phantom will show up, and you can log into Supersafe at a whim!
